Bill Synopsis: The bill builds upon the California Integrated Waste Management Act of 1989, enhancing the state's commitment to reducing solid waste and improving waste management practices within state agencies by mandating each state agency, including California Community Colleges, to create and submit an integrated waste management plan aimed at diverting at least 50% of solid waste through source reduction, recycling, and composting, as well as prohibiting state agencies from purchasing single-use plastic bottles made of less than 90% recycled plastic, unless necessary for health and safety emergencies.
