Bill Synopsis: This bill establishes the California Healthy Food Procurement Fund Program within the Office of Farm to Fork to expand K–12 access to healthy, minimally processed foods grown in California, bolster climate‑resilient farming, and strengthen equitable, locally sourced school meal supply chains. It creates a dedicated account to pool public and private resources to subsidize approved vendors that source, verify origin, and deliver California‑produced foods to schools at no cost; sets vendor eligibility and public posting requirements by region; and directs outreach and reporting to measure vendor participation, institutional uptake, and farm sourcing. The program is designed to increase student access to nutritious local foods while creating reliable markets for California producers and advancing sustainability in the school food system.
