Join the Sacramento Chapter of HADASSAH, the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW), Sacramento Section, and Assemblyman Ken Cooley for the 2017 Sima Spector "Healthy Families, Healthy Lives"
The 22nd annual Sima Spector Health Conference is an opportunity to focus on nutrition, exercise and mindfulness as the keys to better health. This year's conference is titled as, Wellness with Mindfulness II: Healthy Body, Heart and Mind.
Speakers include Maxine Barish-Wreden, MD, a specialist in integrative, holistic medicine (Medical Director, Institute for Health and Healing, Sutter Health) and Linda Larson, RN, a registered yoga therapist specializing in cardiac health (UC Davis) Erika Meredith, a physical therapist specializing in the use of exercise to improve physical function (Kaiser-Permanente) will also participate, teaching a session in Therapeutic Movement. Conference attendees will learn what foods they could eat (and avoid) to maximize good health, and how and why a healthy diet leads to more energy, physical improvements in our hearts and other organs, and an increased sense of calmness and joyfulness. They will also learn what mindfulness is and how to practice it, both in day-to-day life and during mindful exercise regimens such as yoga, which relieve stress, foster self-compassion, and contribute to physical as well as mental health. Exhibitors from dozens of local health and community-based organizations will also be present, staffing tables and handing out information.
