13th Annual Breastfeeding Awareness Walk and Celebration

The Babies First Breastfeeding Task Force will host the 13th Annual Breastfeeding Awareness Walk and Celebration on Saturday, August 4, 2018, during World Woodward Park’s Lake View Shelter. Check-in begins at 8:00 am and the event starts at 9:00 am.

The walk will host the “Big Latch-On” at 10:30 am. The “Big Latch-On” is a worldwide breastfeeding event where all Latch-On sites in the United States aim to set a new record for the most women breastfeeding simultaneously for one minute.

The goal of the walk is to increase awareness, promote employer support of breastfeeding moms, reduce stigma and recognize breastfeeding as a “First Step to a Healthy Life”. Research shows that breastfeeding increases the health, development and well-being for children and mothers. Families also benefit from maternal and child bonding, lower health care costs and savings from not purchasing formula. Employers and businesses who provide a lactation accommodation space will reduce absenteeism, improve employee productivity, raise morale, retain valuable employees and have a family-friendly image.

The walk is a free community event for children and families to support breastfeeding. There will be T-shirts, refreshments, kids’ activities, music, and raffle giveaways for everyone to enjoy. Register now at www.fresnoeoc.org/wic.
